Sizing die leaving marks
Quote from Reloader on May 3, 2011, 6:53 amI've been using a 550 for about 9 months, I've loaded a couple thousand 9mm and .45ACP, and recently noticed that the sizing die (both calibers) is leaving very light, vertical grooves in the case, extening about 2/3 the length of the case, all the way around. They are very fine, but visible and I can feel them with a fingernail. I've never noticed them before, but they could have always been there I guess.
Is this normal? Or, have I started doing something wrong? I tried a number of times, but can't get them to show in a picture (at least with the crappy cell phone cam...)
Thanks!

Quote from Reloader on May 3, 2011, 2:33 pmIt sounds like brass buildup inside the size die is all. Remove the decap assembly, and use a bore brush and barrel solvent containing ammonia ( such as Hoppe's #9 or Sweet's 7.62 Solvents), and scrub, let the solvent sit inside for 10 minutes, then repeat until no more blue-color appears.
