SL900 Woes
Quote from Reloader on January 9, 2015, 5:20 amI have literally never gotten this press to work with any consistency. Tonight, out of 100 shells that I finally got loaded, 10% were throw aways because of bad crimps, 30% dropped the shot way short of the set load, I had to set over 50% of the primers by hand after the primer either didn

Quote from Reloader on March 26, 2015, 3:02 pmIn my experience, the SL900 is very consistent. It drops powder within .1 grains and #7.5 shot to within +/- 3 beads from shell to shell. I load Remington Hulls with Chedite primers, and get perhaps 2 - 3 bad crimps ( which I use for skeet shots) I have loaded over 9,000 shells over the past 3 years.
I did have more trouble with Winchester Hulls and primers in my SL900, and went to Remington and Chedite. One thing to be vigilant about is an occasional shot ball getting jammed in the shell holder grooves. Get in there with a flashlight and pick to inspect periodically. I also keep lube on all moving parts except the primer tray and chute - I use a light Teflon spray in that area, so there is no tack.
