Slight ridge in .45 ACP
Quote from Reloader on January 23, 2013, 9:18 pmHello, I just got my press (RL550B) yesterday. I set it up last night and reloaded 7 .45 ACP rounds. I noticed that there is a slight ridge in the case about a 1/4 inch from the top of the case. It appears to be where the bullet ends. I am sending a picture although it is difficult to capture the ridge (it shows up as a darker line in the brass). I assume that I have a setting incorrect. Can you tell me where to look?

Quote from Reloader on January 25, 2013, 5:41 pmThis is correct for a semi auto cartridge. The case should be sized tight enough that the bullet is a press-fit, to prevent the bullet from being pushed back into the case when fed into the chamber. This won't interfere with feeding or function.

Quote from Reloader on January 25, 2013, 8:39 pmThank you, I took the seven rounds to the range and tested them. They worked perfectly even though I was shaking like a leaf. The temp was 9 with a wind chill of 22 below. I don't think I will test outdoors for a few weeks.
After posting this I had a chance to talk to Matt on your order hotline and he gave me good information also about how much crimp to apply. It is always a pleasure to work with you folks, even if you don't get to fully enjoy winter.
