Slightly raised primers
Quote from Reloader on December 21, 2010, 6:45 pmThe primers are sometimes slightly raised. It tends to happen when using CCI (hard) primers and not so much with Federal.
I'm sure that I'm getting full travel to seat them and have just tightened the shellplate a bit. Is there another adjustment that can help?
Thanks,
Pete

Quote from Reloader on December 21, 2010, 8:14 pmWhat caliber are you loading? Be sure the handle does not have any spiderweb cracks between the reinforcing webs at the base. If your benchtop is plywood, it may be flexing enough to prevent proper seating of the primers. Federal primers are softer, easier to seat than other brands.

Quote from Reloader on December 21, 2010, 10:30 pmI'm loading 357 magnum. The I have 2 2x6 underneath the press that go to the cement floor, it's soliad as a rock I'll check the handle for cracks and will load more tonight. It's not a frequent problem but does happen from time to time.
I did tighten the shellplate and will let you know over the next week or so if it happens.
Just trying to tweak things to keep it all working well. Thanks

Quote from Reloader on December 21, 2010, 11:19 pmOk, so the 2x6 boards under the press are solid as a rock when the ram is going up and the handle down. But when priming, not so solid. I need to add a brace to keep the legs from sliding out and giving flex. I held my foot against it and it seemed to solve the problem.
Thanks,
Pete
