sm pistol primer feed problem
Quote from Reloader on September 27, 2010, 5:24 pmI just started loading a couple of months ago. I have a new 550b loader set up for 9mm. After I assembled the press I ran some brass through all the stations and everything seamed to be working fine. I started loading the same brass yesterday and the primer pick-up would only grab a small pistol primer every other cycle pull of the handle, it did not miss a beat. Every other time it would have a primer and the next pull it would not. I did not change anything or adjust anything, same components, same process. What is happening?

Quote from Reloader on September 29, 2010, 5:11 pmFirst, be sure you changed the primer magazine to the small primer size- visually identifiable by the blue tip at the bottom of the tube- and to the small primer slide, also identifiable by a brassy gold colored primer cup.
Beyond that, if you changed the magazine tubes, be sure you rotated the tube so that the alignment ridge on the blue tip aligns and allows the tube to drop lower.

Quote from Reloader on October 3, 2010, 10:23 pmCall the tech line when you are in front of the loader. I expect they will have you remove the primer tube setup and check the setting for how far back the slide runs. A small change makes a huge difference. Once tuned up, it should be 100% reliable.
