Stack height issue with 3/4ounce 12 gauge loads

PreviousPage 3 of 3

In a recent podcast with Tom Gresham, Joel Hodgdon left the window wide open to bringing back the Grand shotshell progressive reloader now that Hodgdon  owns RCBS.

EDIT:

As a side note, Dillon should have tried to convert a 1050 frame over to a shotgun reloader.

A 650 sized toolhead is just way too cramped, in my opinion, to be a shotgun reloader.  There is not enough room up top to make adjustments to the dies.  And some dies have 1.8 gazillion threads to the inch, so being able to swing a wrench an eighth of a turn at a time takes forever.

If your crimps are pushing up like in the photo, something in your hull/powder charge/wad/shot volume is incompatible. If I had to guess, the lower cushion portion of the wad is being so compressed it is pushing back afterwards. First suggestion is to try a different wad. This has nothing to do with the loader, but trying to squish too much stuff in small of a space.

Who else makes 3/4 ounce wads in 12 gauge…. Besides Claybuster?

Thank you sir!

I just ordered 4 bags.
