Stage 1 Problems
Quote from Texan 1650 on July 27, 2024, 2:25 pmI have a 450, with a few of the 550 upgrades. Not all of them, but some. I use RCBS dies. I have several issues that have come up. All in the first stage of the reloading. The first is that the case is no longer lined up with the sizing/depriming die. I have to "wiggle" the case around to go up in there. Then when I try and prime the case, about 60% of the time the case "cocks" out of the shell plate and wont hold the casing for priming. I have to reach around and hold the case in place hard against the shell plate to get it to stay in position to be primed. Also, when I pull back the primer bar to pick up a primer, sometimes about four or five primers will fall out. I did not have these issues with the 450, just started when I switches to 550 frame. So thoughts? It is NOT one particular slot on the shell plate. I can still reload, but it sure takes alot longer to do it with all the reaching around.

Quote from The Human Manual on July 29, 2024, 4:21 pmRe-check the platform alignment using the platform alignment tool that cam with the frame change kit. Next, always tighten the die lock rings with cases or cartridges up in the die. Doing this centers the die in the toolhead.
