Station one Brass jamming
Quote from Reloader on April 7, 2013, 3:00 amJust recieved my SDB set up for .45LC. I ran the trials and set everything up and noticed that at station one the brass is having a hard time going into the die to get deprimed. Also i have had to unjam two rounds and just stopped. What is causing the brass to jam in the die at station one?

Quote from Reloader on April 8, 2013, 5:33 pmDoes this always occur at the same cutout in the shellplate? You might try lubing the brass. 45LC has a lot of surface area to resize, a bit of lube makes it much easier.

Quote from Reloader on April 8, 2013, 5:42 pmI cant confirm but i think it happens randomly because i have had two within loading of four shells. Also i noticed that when the brass is stuck up in the die that it still can be rotated around just not pulled down or up. dont know if the entire die moves or not. I took off the de-primer and watched from the top and noticed that each shell does not raise centered in the die or it moves on the shell plate as it approached the die. A few of the shells actually get dented as they enter the die, is this an issue with the die? All the brass that i have removed have damage at upper end when they entered the die. this is a brandnew system, i just received Friday.

Quote from Reloader on April 9, 2013, 2:22 amEveryone,
I have to confess, i went to a SDB expert (he has three). I was the self imposed problem. I kept jerking the handle instead of applying smooth pressure after the shell started into the die. I went back and sized 50 rounds with no problem. So if anyone is crushing shells or getting them stuck it is do to not being smooth and steady.
