Storing primers/powder

Just getting started on my RL550 press, is it ok to leave powder in the reservoir and primers in the feed magazine? I keep it covered with the Dillon cover when not in use, and what is the function of the two sewn on loops on the cover?

W recommend dumping the powder out of the hopper when not in use for extended periods, as the powder will darken and discolor the plastic. No worries about leaving primers in the tube. The two loop are for securing the primer follower rod when the cover is on.
