Strong Mount question
Quote from Reloader on March 6, 2016, 10:19 pmI just got a 550b and I was looking at vids on set up. I noticed one guy did not get strong mounts and attached the press to a board that he clamps down. I got the mounts...question: has anybody screwed the mounts to a board then clamped it down? If so does it work ok? I like the idea of being able to move the press is need be. Thanks for any reply

Quote from Reloader on March 19, 2016, 10:51 pmSince I have three different presses on my bench I use wing nuts underneath and it's easy to move any press I want when I need more bench space. I use the board and clamp method for sizing cast bullets so for something the size of the 550 use strong metal C clamps.

Quote from Reloader on May 31, 2016, 1:04 pmI have five presses including a 550B with a strong mount and a Super 1050. All of them are mounted on plywood but not just a single piece. I use two pieces of 3/4" think plywood glued and screwed together and then can position them anywhere I want using clamps to attach the wooden bases to my bench top which is composed of six full size solid wood doors (in a "U" shape) on very sturdy 2x4 frames which have a storage shelf underneath the top and are all bolted together, not screwed or nailed. Has worked great for me for over ten years.
