Swaging different headstamps
Quote from Reloader on May 13, 2013, 1:17 amRecently received my must anticipated Super Swage 600. In reading various forums, many threads discuss sorting 223 brass by headstamp and adjusting the Super Swage for each headstamp. Is that really necessary? Given that the physical dimensions of the case head diameter have to be the same which, unless I am missing something, would mean that if you make the proper adjustments on the Super Swage for one 223 piece of brass would you not be properly set for any piece of 223 boxer primed brass?
Second question is with regard to swaging all 223 brass instead of separating out crimped vs non-crimped. Is there any harm to running every piece of brass thru the swaging process? I realize that once swaged you will not have to do that again to reload the same piece of brass in the future but often when collecting fired brass from the range you get other peoples brass mixed in so I cannot count on it having been swaged previously. I figured rather than dealing with a crimped primer pocket while priming, it is so quick and simple to run all the brass thru the swager as a matter of course. So the question becomes am I causing any harm to the brass in doing so?
Thanks
