toolhead slop
Quote from Reloader on January 24, 2009, 2:45 amI have found that the toolhead slop on my 550B can be easily and inexpensivley fixed by using teflon tape. Simply wrap the toolhead four or five times with common teflon tape and install in the press. This method works extremely well and is an easy way to achieve peace of mind in the matter of tool head slop.

Quote from Reloader on January 24, 2009, 6:37 amToolhead slop should not be a concern for anyone to begin with. The shell plate is not a positive machine fit and allows movement so when the round enrters in the die it will center its self and the die will keep everything centered through out the stroke. Even in a single stage press the casing will move in the shell holder. I have used both and unless you are a match competition shooter the tool head movement will never be a cause for accuracey concerns.

Hi Dale,
I've been shooting paper for a long time and the "play" in the Dillion tool heads has never been an issue once I learned to shoot better. My Rem 700 shoots under 1/4MOA with the .308 168g, 175g and 200g Match King loads out of my ancient RL550B. Don't even worry about it just load more and practice more.
Cheers!
