Upgrading from 550b to XL 650

I have a 550B with the casefeed reloading 9mm and 45acp. I want to use a casefeed with 5.56/.223 rifle and I know that the 550b can't do it.

If I sell my 550B, what parts could I retain for the XL 650? I thought that the casefeed and dies would be compatible, but the caliber conversion, and tool heads would not be. Is this correct?

Sincerely,
Robert

there is not much from the 550 that will transfer to the 650. cal conversions and will not and the case feeder can be made to work with the 650 but you will need to do modifications to make it correctly. dies will work just fine.

over on Brian Enos forums there are some guys that have made mods to 550 case feeder caliber conversion parts that allowed them to load 5.56/.223
calibers on their 550s. i believe if you google loading 223 on a 550 w/ case feeder you may find the info you are looking for.

i hope this helps,
aug

A slight modification to the casefeed ramp profile on the lower part, a #3 station 1 locator, and a White 223 casefeed adapter and I'm up and running with the 550B. I deprimed about 2,200 casings (223 and 5.56) with a couple of minor issues (fine tuning plunger depth, cleaning up shell plate assembly, etc.) but overall not bad. I just reloaded 100 bullets and took my time because I read that the powder can take a little bit to dump through the small opening. Thanks for the encouragement.
