Ray.

Check to see if the primer cup is deformed or mis-shapen.  Also the punch that the cup rides on may be bent if a primer got caught in front of the slide before it got fully returned and the press was returned to "home" position and it got "tweaked".

I just did that to mine again so both of the above are in need of replacing so I just ordered a spare parts kit to replace them.  AND, I just read about replacing the cotter key on the primer catch door in another thread as that is the problem that caused this problem..

Had my 550 for about 3 years with a LOT of .40, .45 and .357 through it and this is the only problem I've had with it.

Nice Forum you have here Dillon.  Many thanks again.

Mike & Everybody

I have had my Dillion 550B almost 20 years.  I have reloaded 1,000's upon 1,000s of both Pistol and rifle rounds.  SInce I share this machine with my son, we have reloaded 38's, 9mm, 10-mm, 40mm, 44mag (my Favorite), .223's, .308's, 30-06.

Dillion has rebuilt this machine 2 times over the last 20 years (wear on the bushings).  Its a engineering wonder, and my hat is off to Mike.

Since you have created this new forum, I hope to be able to answer ? from other members and I know I will post some questions myself.

Now only if the 1050 had the same warranty and the smaller machines, I would probably buy one of them.

Roger
