I found that the powder measure of my 550B using RL15 is very inaccurate. Is there any way to make it more accurate? The variance is like .5gr!

I am reloading for .223

Trying to use 24.7gr of RL15

R-15 should throw within +/-.1-.2 grains. Be sure the height of the powder die is adjusted to move the powder bar the full distance at the same time the handle bottoms out. next, be sure to start with the powder hopper at least 2/3 full;throw and return 10-15 charges to settle the powder under the baffle. Since R-15 is an extruded powder, you do need to operate the handle slower than for pistol charges. It should take one full second to move the powder bar from one side to the other.

I converted my 550B (with optional case feeder) from 45 cal to 40 cal.  The conversion is smoothe and everything looks as if it aligned correctly.  However, when the hopper is empty and the last case is in the tube and drops onto the guide on the way to the shell plate, it always flips and lays horizontal.  Is there a remedy other than placing an additional case in the hopper (51 rather than 50)?

Also what is the difference between the 550 and 550B?

Thanks for the welcome - nice site.

I've had the 550B for a long time, over 10-12 years.  Never had an issue, put a lot of cases through it.

Also - thanks for the great products.

Nice to meet you all.

Jerry

I just signed up. I like the new web sight.

I got my 450 from my father when he did not have time to reload anymore. I soon upgraded to 550B and have put nearly 30,000 rounds through it in the last 5 years. The upgrades make the difference after using the 450 for several 10+ years at my folks house.  I have had a few problems but nothing that Dillon could not fix after a call. Thanks guys for making a great product with great customer service.

Jason.

I just joined today and also ordered a RL 550B today.  But here is a dumb question, how do I add a picture to my profile on my profile page.  I tried to use a picture saved on my hard drive but it wont work.
