What really irks me.

Just venting here, but no matter what forum I've ever been on, it seems the really old timers are dead set against any kind of progressive press. I just had a guy say to me, that he likes to make "good" ammo, and progressives are just for people who want speed. It's just amazing to me that I've been loading with Dillons for more than 30 years and have 4 on my bench, and I make fantastic, accurate ammo with them. Never in 30 years have I ever had a squib, not one, and I shoot close to 10 thousand rounds a year. As the old saying goes, there's no fool like an old fool, and I would rather leave those forums, than to simply argue with an old fool. OK my rant is over, I've vented enough.

Love my XL650 progressive!

I run into the same thing. No matter how I point out my 30 years of successful reloading with a Dillon RL550B there is always someone who doesn't believe it can make good ammo.

Yeah and did you notice at the range when they shot their 20 perfect rounds that took all week to make they are asking you if you have some to spare.

With 30 years of reloading you are the old guy..... Just kidding.
I'm looking at over 40 years and usually don't listen when the kids tell me how good their gun/ammo/reloading stuff is.
One of the things I like about my range is the kids that do show up are squared away.

The proof is in the pudding. If the ammo you make exceeds your expectations, then what can you say ?

I've loaded rifle and pistol on my 550b. To be honest, when I think I have a load dialed in (smallest grouping for me) I ask a friend of mine to shoot 3 rounds. When he cloverleafs at 25 yards on iron sights at an indoor range with pistol ammo, I think it's good enough. Perhaps if I ever get good enough to do some long distance shooting at 1,000 yards, then I might split hairs, but even then I'd try my progressive first.

I reloaded for 40+ years on various single stages both rifle and some handgun. I was afraid the powder slide bar wasn't accurate on a Dillon but then one day it dawned on me that thousands of competition shooters load thousands of pistol rounds and I haven't read of their guns blowing up. So 9 years ago I bought a 550B and I've loaded thousands of rounds and the powder measure slide bar has never failed me. Hard to change but glad I did.

It is no different than going from a land line to cell. There will always be a hold out....I'm a newbe to progressive. My dad had a single die press since the 70's and it really is a joke compared to this invention that is ahead of it's time....
