Workflow question
Quote from Reloader on May 1, 2013, 3:29 amI've been buying alot of once fired military brass in 7.62 Nato and I'm thinking my workflow is flawed. Typically I get in big batches of nasty brass that I'm worried might be so dirty it could jam up in the full length resizing and decapping die. My preference has been to remove the crimping die, dial out the resize body and drop the decapping pin all the way, deprime all the brass, then clean it in ultrasonic then tumble in a thumler with SSteel. Once that's all deprimed, clean and dry I trim cases and I have to reset the resize die for headspace, reinstall my crimp die and run ammo. It's pretty much 2 press setups. I think whats costing me the time is my apprehension to clean cases with old primers in there. Anyone have any suggestions to improve my workflow so I can avoid the retooling ?

Quote from Reloader on May 1, 2013, 3:02 pmFor wet tumbling you really do need to deprime first, not so much as to clean a primer pocket as to ensure the interior of the case is dry. I suggest investing in a separate toolhead and a universal decapping die, to only deprime the brass. Then clean, then load.
