XL 650 or Super 1050
Quote from Reloader on January 26, 2009, 9:28 amI have been looking at purchasing a Dillon Press for some time now. I have retired and can spend some money
I am looking for comments from yo people on which press you would purchase and why.
I have been handloading for some time with a Lee Progessive 1000. Now I can afford the best.
Which press would you purchase, the XL 650 or the Super 1050?

Quote from Reloader on January 31, 2009, 3:54 amWell I think you answered your own question.
"Now I can afford the best." so that would be the 1050.I am leaning toward the 650, as I don't know if the 1050 is that big of difference compared to the money difference. the difference between the 550 and 650 seems large to me, but the 650 to the 1050, not nearly as much.
Either way, they are both excellent, and don't think you'll be disappointed. let us know how you like the one you end up getting.

dont forget that the 1050 does NOT have a lifetime warranty

Quote from Reloader on May 31, 2013, 7:11 pmI also am Retired and Reloaded for 40 plus years. If money is no object then I would go with the 1050. I have both set up on my bench. I don't load volumes and volumes of ammo, but I enjoy Reloading. I use the 1050 for all Small Primers and Don't change it. I load 9mm, 38 super, 40 S&W and 38 Special on the 1050. I also use 45 ACP Brass with the Small Primers and load that on the 1050. I have the 650 set up to load anything I want. The difference to me is the Solid feel of the 1050 and the Priming on the downstroke and also the ability to condition the priming pocket. I just like to load on the 1050 better than the 650. So if money is no object I say go with the 1050.
