XL650 and 45acp
Quote from Reloader on October 1, 2013, 1:03 amI just recently installed a 45acp conversion kit on my 650 and I'm having a heck of a time with cases hanging up in the case feed arm bushing and falling falling thru the body bushing. It acts like the arm isn't lining up with the body bushing.
I don't have this issue with 9mm or 223, just the 45. Press isn't shaking and even when I go slow and smooth it will fail to drop a case to the shell plate. Brass isn't bent or damaged.
I really don't like the way the red case feed tube adapter fits. The clear drop tube fits real sloppy in the plastic adapter and the plastic adapter really doesn't push into the top of the press very well, at least not snug like the other adapters do.
As bad as it's running, I'd be better off feeding by hand.
Any ideas?
Richard

Quote from Reloader on October 1, 2013, 3:49 amThe case feed arm bushing needs to fit the hole snug and be flush or slightly under the top of the case feed arm. If it's not, as the arm comes back to pick up the next case, it will catch on the case and cock just enough to not move all the way under to pick up the next case. I had to massage mine by placing a small bit of scotch tape around the outside of the bushing and inserting the bushing in the arm until it was snug and flush.

Quote from Reloader on October 1, 2013, 12:00 pmThanks. The plastic bushing is all the way down, but it's not flush or below flush.
It's running a smoother now. It looks like the case insert slide ramp was binding and tweaking /leaning back some instead of opening the arm all the way. I put a dab of lube on the plastic ramp face and that seems to help.
