350 Legend

Quote from Reloader on October 29, 2019, 11:01 pmWe will eventually create a part number for a 350 Legend conversion kit. This cartridge is similar in length to the 357 Maximum, and will use the "D" powder funnel #13599. Everything else will be the same as the 223/5.56mm conversion

Quote from Reloader on July 25, 2020, 1:51 amI hate to whine--but I AM fully capable of doing so. My granddaughter just got a new 350 Legend rifle and I am tasked with making ammo. Since Dillon is not yet making dies, I bought some from L*m*n. The quality is not what I get with Dillon dies and of course, I promptly snapped off a decapping pin and bent the decapping rod. I rigged a process to decap with an alternate die (and much stronger pin) and then just resized with the Brand X resizing die. Of course I called the company and they checked my name in their computer date base and agreed they could send me one free replacement since I had not gotten one before, and they also reminded me that, ". . . after this we gotta charge you . . ."
So Whine # 1 is this: Dillon, this caliber has been out for a while now and is wildly popular in the Midwest. Where the heck are the dies?
After getting my cases resized and decapped, I measure them and they had stretched enough that they needed to be trimmed. I have long used the Dillon 1200 trimmer and have a fairly large set of trim dies. But none of these would work with the 350 Legend. So, I had to borrow one of those crank trimmers to trim the brass. I haven't enjoyed THIS activity in many years and as I type this, my 69 year old and admittedly oversize hands look like they are covered with serious hickies (abrasions) caused from turning that damned knurled crank handle. Additionally, my wife is more than a little p***ed off at what she believes to be my inappropriate language (while using that damned crank tool).
So Whine #2 is this: Dillon, when you are making sets of 350 Legend Dies, can you also add a 350 Legend trim die? Most sincerely and respectfully

Quote from Reloader on October 4, 2020, 6:08 pmhas anyone used the "d" powder funnel # 13599 for the 350 legend? i just started reloading 350 legend on a dillon rl550 and am having trouble with the powder funnel crushing the lip on the cases. the funnel die holder is screwed almost completely to the top barely swelling the case.

Quote from Reloader on October 5, 2020, 7:38 pmThe 350 Legend takes a .355" bullet and the #D Powder funnel is made for .357" bullets. Do you have a #F funnel? That is the one you should be using– if it is not too long, that is. My #F funnel is 2.870" long. How does that compare to the #D?
If the #F is too long, the top could be cut but the 45° tapered funnel section would need to be reformed. I think the groove where the 'F' is stamped is probably only there for a set screw on the AT 500 powder die.

Quote from Reloader on October 8, 2020, 5:43 amI know that Dillon makes an X-Large Powder Die that is required for some oversize powder funnels. I don't know what the inside diameter of that powder die is. If anyone knows, please tell us, because this is your chance to teach the internet something it doesn't already know and that is no small feat.
Anyway, *if* the inside diameter of the X-Large Powder Die is 5/8" -ish, the Hornady powder through expander (PTX) die would fit in there and it looks to be about the right length for a 43mm case at 2.17". https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1018035722?pid=458388
I got one with a Hornady bullet dropper (came with the used press) and I actually turned it down to fit the regular-size Dillon powder die. I haven't tried it yet for 9mm— I hope it's long enough! I was going to try it with the bullet dropper and thought the bullet might lay in the case better.

Quote from Reloader on October 10, 2020, 1:02 amI have it on good word that the X-Large powder die is 0.688", so 11/16" -ish and not 5/8" -ish. Hornady PTX and RCBS powder-through-expanders will not work. The standard size die could still be bored-out, and I'm pretty sure it would be easy to get them a heck-of-a-lot smoother! We'd just need to mind the step at the bottom.
