6.5 Creedmoor
Quote from Reloader on December 6, 2013, 5:59 pmWhat shellplate, etc do I need to load the 6.5 Creedmoor with my XL650? I already have caliber conversion kits for the 308win, 223rem, 9mm, 357mag, and 45acp. Thanks!

Quote from Reloader on June 29, 2019, 3:00 amThere is a different funnel part number listed now for the 6.5 Creedmoor. It is the #13216 "K" funnel. 6.5 Creedmoor also has a caliber conversion kit #62245, but I couldn't find the individual parts listed in an updated "XL 650 Caliber Conversion Chart."
It's too bad the online manual didn't get updated since 2007 and that it has trim lines. It would be easy enough to crop with Acrobat Pro, or even to create the pdf in QuarkXpress (where it was originally created) and turn off trim lines in the pdf options.

Quote from Reloader on September 3, 2019, 5:42 amI have recently purchased the 6.5 Grendel Conversion Kit. When placed on the case, the powder funnel does not contact the shoulder of the case, only the neck. I tried it on a 6.5 Creedmoor case and it seems to fit the same. This was all done out of the press. Since I have the .308 Conversion Kit, I thought I would try the Grendel funnel before buying the Creedmoor specific 'K' funnel. It should be fine as long as there is sufficient room to adjust the powder die for the taller case.

Quote from Reloader on September 6, 2020, 6:45 amI have not loaded 6.5 Creedmoor yet on the XL 650 but I noticed that the 6.5 Grendel powder funnel is much longer than my .308 powder funnel. When I place the two funnels on cases, Grendel on Creedmoor and 'B' funnel on .308, the height difference is pretty extreme. However, that 'B' funnel is from a conversion kit that also does .30-06, which, in turn, is quite a bit taller than a .308 case. The Grendel funnel on the Creedmoor case is still .205" taller than the B funnel on the 30-06 case.
Does anyone happen to have a 'K' funnel that they could measure for length?

Quote from Reloader on September 6, 2020, 7:02 am'B' funnel is also used for 30-338, which is .380" longer than 30-06, and since that is more than the .205" difference, I think it definitely might probably work! Graf's sells a Dillon funnel that they advertise as fitting both the Grendel and Creedmoor and it is part number 18947, which is the part number of the 6.5 Grendel funnel.

Quote from Reloader on September 7, 2020, 1:42 amI verified that the 6.5 Grendel funnel definitely will work for 6.5 Creedmoor. The recommended 'K' funnel also does .257, which I found interesting, so it must have a smaller hole in the center, but large enough on the bottom to fit the .290" case mouth of the 6.5 Creedmoor.
So why the change, from 'Y' or 6.5 Grendel funnels, you ask? Hey, if you can sell another powder funnel of which you might possibly have ordered too many, why not— right?! ;–)

Quote from Reloader on October 24, 2020, 11:34 pmDon't look now, but the there is a new shellplate "#6.5 Swede Mauser" part number 16545 specified in the XL 750 instruction manual for a specific 6.5 Creedmoor conversion kit number 62245. I tried the #1 (.308) shellplate and the Creedmoor case didn't seem to fit any worse than the .308 case did, although my 6.5 Creedmoor brass has small primers compared to the .308 Winchester which uses large primers– but there is also Creedmoor brass with large primers. Also different in the 6.5 Creedmoor conversion kit, the Orange casefeed adapter (longer plastic piece) is included instead of the black one, which is also used by 6.5 Grendel. There is also the #K powder funnel.
I am planning to load some 6.5 Creedmoor on the XL 650 but I bought a powder funnel and powder die adapter to precisely weigh my own powder charges.
