Order Backlog

PreviousPage 2 of 3Next

If your order is finalized does that mean it's complete and ready to ship. I have one order that is processed and one that is finalized. Just wondered?

I have to say that ordering with this company is one of the worst decisions I have made in some time. My order was placed 7 Jan. and a partial was shipped on 11 Jan. I have called twice and both times been told "yep, everything is on back order, no idea when it will ship". When order was placed no indication was provide that it would be months before it shipped. Meanwhile I see indications of orders placed after mine that are shipping. In this day and age the company cannot provide any details about the status of an order, I find this appalling. Call me unprepared or a cry baby but i can order a $ 5.00 pencil from Amazon and get immediate order status, two calls to Dillon on a $ 1,200.00 a month apart and the only thing I can be told is that my order is in the system, can't say if it will ever ship. Oh, and one of the reps that I spoke seemed real excited if I would cancel my order but I would have to pay both way shipping on my partial order.

They're backlogged because they make the best damn press available, and because everybody all at once decided they needed one. Many people seem to have the patience and understanding of a 6 year old - to those I'd suggest cancelling their order (so I can get mine faster). Your machine may or may not be ready to ship, but the order they go out depends on what else was ordered with it - you may have ordered dies and other things that are holding up your order - someone that ordered just a machine a week after you may get their order first. Quit whining and exercise a little patience. You've done without it all these years - you can wait a couple more weeks...  Believe me, the product and the warranty that comes with it are well worth every bit of the wait.

To "labdad45": When your order is "Finalized", think that just means that it is completely entered in the system and the payment method has been verified. I don't know the specifics of that, but that is my guess. It really has no bearing on when the order will ship or where it might be in line.

To others, I feel your pain - but try to be as patient as you can. I agree that better communication would ease the anxiety of waiting, I hope they can improve on that once they catch their breath. It would also be good to have the option: "Ship partials to me as available, and I understand I may incur additional shipping charges".

Just my suggestions for the suggestion box. 🙂

Before I ordered a 550b I researched all other brands as well as looking at the Dillon prices on ebay. I concluded that I could buy a dilon press on ebay for twice its value, buy another brand or wait. I chose to bite the bullett (pun intended) and wait for the dillon press and dies. I think we all know who makes the best equipment, or we wouldn't be here.

I ordered a press on 1/29 and a tumbler a week later. Something weighing 13 pounds is coming tomorrow!

I am waiting for my second 550 press. The wife placed the order as a Valentine gift. ( Good Wife). I hope all of you that are upset and inpatient cancel their orders ASAP. Dillon makes the best reloading equipment available. Check the Ebay prices for USED Dillon
equipment, and you will see what Dillon products sell for used. Be Safe.

Well this is just my little story, I had two orders with Dillon and the first one has items that are in high demand. The second order are alll parts, it shipped out in just a few days. Yesterday I call Dillon and cancelled some items on my first order that I thought might be the culprits. I guess time will tell.  I was only on hold for about 30 minutes and the customer service guy was very helpful. The other thing is I noticed pnce my order was finilized it shipped the next day.

Lets test your order # theory.

  Ordered placed on 2/1/13 #2472xx (550 w/3 conv. 9,45,223 Dies 9,45

     "           "       " 2/22/13 #2559xx   40 S&W conv.&Dies

That would be 6664 orders in just 3 wks

To say Dillon is busy is a under statement

Good thinks come to those that wait

Hang in there folks! If you absolutely have to have equipment now while you wait for your Dillon machine, Amazon has RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme kit in stock at a nice price. No idea how many... and keep in mind it's a single stage. But it's a damn good press if you want to have a single.

As for the order backlog, it is worth the wait.  I started reloading 25 years ago.  I have had 4 different presses over the time.  This to me is the best I have used.  Remember we are in strange times right now.  In my opinion just be glad you made the right decision. I was in limbo for 4 weeks waiting for mine!

Happy Reloading  GGE
