Powder throw on shell plate

PreviousPage 2 of 2

I don't but I just ordered one and will let you know how it goes when I receive and try it

I saw this on YouTube.

He perfectly describes your issue and shows his remedy.

The shell plate is rotating too violently, and the ball detent strikes the bottom of the shell plate with too much force.

Even if they are sold out, physics applies to your machine.

Perhaps a good cleaning and lubrication would indeed help?

The real reason the powder jumps out of cases is because of the quick stop of the shell plate when it hits the locator ball. Things in motion tend to stay in motion. The shell plate stops but the powder doesn't.

The way to stop this is to Slow the jump STOP of the shell plate as the locater ball hits the hole in the bottom shell plate.

I could go into a long description of how I setup a 1911 3 leaf spring to slow this JUMP/STOP down but in my last house move I lost the parts I made and can't remember what the heck I did to adapt it.

So now what I do is pick up a bullet with my thumb and index fingers and then place my middle finger on the case as it moves from station 3 to station 4 where I place the bullet on the case mouth. This Slows down the shell plate and stops the sudden JUMP STOP, back and forth, of the case stopping powder jumping out.

That kit with the plastic ball and the washer and the roller rod look useful but not for completely stopping powder spilling out of the case from the JUMP/STOP/RATTLE of the case. I might even buy that kit just for the roller rod.

While I haven't personally tried it, this looks interesting:
