Primer pickup problems

At any rate, problem finally solved. removing my slim shim and going back to the basics, I decided to concentrate on the factory shim. I finally got the black shim in a position that it apparently likes and got the operation smoothed out. However, I still had the problem of the primer cup not going back far enough to pickup a primer. With the rod holder down as low as it can go (for maximum leverage to the rear), the slide still needed a bit more so I placed heat shrink tubing on both the upper and lower stretches of the rod and everything went back to working properly. Go figure...
