Tumbler

Page 1 of 2Next

I got started into reloading about 2 years ago.  It took me 2 years to finally get all that I needed to get going.  One of the items I bought 2 years ago was a CV 500 tumbler.  Unfortunately I did not use it until the  1 year warranty was up (my error)and the tumbler burned out in 6 weeks.  When I inquired about getting a new moter, Dillon said they no longer produced that model and replacement motors were no available.

My question here is does anyone happen to have a replacement motor for a CV500?   This is probably the wrong place to ask but have any of you had problems with their tumbler?  I love my 550 press but would like to get a reliable tumbler - who makes one?

Thanks

Jerry......This is my 2nd CV 500 burnout  2007 & today. I cant find a motor anywhwere to replace with. Dillon wants 80.00 to fix this one, I'm going to cut my loses and buy a  50.00 one from  another company.

I have the 2000 and left it running one day about 2 years agao for 12 hours on accident!  Had 300+ .223 cases in it, still works like new, Highly reccomend the upgrade, and don't forget that jumbo media sorter! 🙂

My 2001 went out today(6-26-09). Will be calling Dillon in about 20 min.

jerry45,

We certainly do have motors in stock. A replacement motor is $39.95. I wish you knew who you spoke with, so I could correct their misperception. We can either send you the motor, or if you prefer, contact us for a return authorization and we'll install it at no extra charge-you just pay for the motor and to ship it to us. We'll cover the return shipping.

Dillon rep said my 2001 was still under warrenty so I shipped it back for a new motor. He also said new motors are alot better than the older ones.

I just recived my CV-2001 back from Dillon. The new motor is so quiet I almost can't here it. Works great!!!

I just repaired that motor in the CV-500 tumbler I have and the problem was the thermo device was stuck open and would not let voltage get to the windings. Removing the windings and doing a continuity test on the thermo device and windings will tell the story on the motor. You could also take the motor to a place that repairs small motors and have the motor rewound if need be. I have also figered out how to replace the motor complely with a different configertion motor and it works fine so I have a spare now.

Dillon,

I have a CV-500 tumbler with the fan under the motor and it has quit working. It wiggles for a minute and then just  stops.
In this thread you comment that a replacement motor is available for $39.95.
I am interested in that motor. 1118301

Thanks Lief
