Who own a 'Square Deal B' here?

PreviousPage 2 of 3Next

I purchased 2 SDB's about a month ago and I love them. I purchase one in .38Special/.357 Magnum and the other in .45 Long Colt. I also purchased the conversion kits for .44Magnum/.44Special, .45ACP, 9MM and .40S&W.

I had never reloaded until I purchased the SDB and now I can't stop reloading. I shoot about 1200 rounds a month and the SDB allows me to keep enough ammunition on hand to feed my shooting habit.

Great product may look into a third one later this year.

I have a square deal B in 38 special that has sold me on the press. I have another in 9mm on order and just bought an old Square deal on Ebay that I am going to use for 45 or 40 cal. Whatever you do don't get one of the Lee progressives. A friend bought one and the priming system and that weird chain thing is a pain.
Someone calls and wants to go shooting .. in 45 minutes I can have 4 boxes of 38's without even working hard. they are not cheap but they hold their value well. Just check the prices on ebay ..

I ran a SDB for about 13 years, then "upgraded" to a XL650 so I could reload rifle calibers.

Happy to state that the SDB is an exceptional piece of engineering. Glad I bought it. I reload several calipers, changeover is a breeze. Recommend getting an additional tool head if you do, as it adds to the ease of changeover.
As to the Dillon Staff, they are hands down top notch, every time I called with a question, it was resolved, including when I did something dumb and needed a replacement part

I have had my SDB for about 15 years and have loaded well over 25,000 rounds of 9mm, 38 and 357. I have never had any problems with the machine.

I have 2 0 presses and a C style, all single stage and felt ready to treat myself to a progressive.

I was lucky to have some friends who one competition, hornady, lee and rcbs. I refuse to talk trash about any of the competition, but the Dillon SDB won hands down, with out a second look. Like I said, I dont want to talk negative about any of the competition, but each one has their down sides, however I really have seen no down side to my SDB. I love mine.

I just recently purchased mine for .44magnum as me and my father love this caliber. No conversions right now, although would love to have some for a few other calibers, but seeing some of the others posts, almost sound to nice just buying a whole new SDB to dedicate for that caliber. Honestly, as of right now I cant see any way to improve my SDB

I have owned a SDB for about 20 years and have loaded well over 50,000 rounds of 9mm, .38 and .357. I can count on one finger the problems I have had and one call to Dillon Tech and the problem was solved.. For me its a great reloading machine and I'm sure I will get many more years of use from my SDB..

I really like my SDB 9mm. I load rifle and 44 Magnum on single stage and that always worked fine since i don't shoot high volumes of that stuff. With the 9mm, I was shooting way more so I bought a Lee pro 1000. I had allot of problems with it due to alignment and primer feed problems so I returned it. I bought the Dillon and have been very impressed with the reliability.

I chose a square deal b because I needed a compact press and have no real plan to reload rifle in large quantities. (Rifle cases take much more prep time so I buy cheap bulk surplus ammo for shooting semi auto rifle. I single load 308 for my bolt gun).

If you are going to stick with handgun cartridges for your bulk of reloading, then go for the square deal. If you think an AR and copious amounts of 5.56 are in your future, save up for a 650. But remember, rifle cases are more work. (Trimming, and lubing.)

I've had one for about a month now. I've loaded hundreds of 38, 357, and 9mm on it. Great machine that I'd recommend to anyone interested in loading. Dillon makes great machines, and the SDB is superb.

The company is great also. Telephone support is awesome. I have been in the Dillon store several times and find the sales staff to be extremely helpful and friendly.

I own 2 Square Deals along with a 650 which is dedicated to .223 and 300 BLK. One SD in small primer set up for my 357 and 9mm, the other is for large primer 45ACP. Dedicated presses on a quick change Lee bench plate is what works well for me. The SD's make some great ammo.
